September 21st, 2023 – Tim Waterer, KCM’s Chief Market Analyst, was invited to appear on Sky News Australia for a live, on-air TV interview. Tim travelled to the Sky News studio in Sydney where he joined host Edward Boyd on the set to discuss all the big events and themes in financial markets.
Edward Boyd asked Tim his thoughts on the FOMC September meeting and the market’s negative reaction regarding the Federal Reserve's outlook for interest rates. Discussion then turned to how the rise in oil prices, which have increased 20% year-to-date, may translate into higher inflation costs which could impact the interest rate policy of central banks around the globe.
Tim also offered his opinion on equity market performances across Asia and which factors were influencing risk appetite across the region.
Speaking after his appearance on Sky New’s ‘Business Now’ program, Tim commented that 'We have seen increased volatility in the aftermath of the FOMC meeting, with investors digesting the higher-for-longer mantra offered by the FOMC with regards to interest rates. I appreciated the invitation from Sky News to appear on their channel to analyse what this all means for investors moving forward.'
